West Hills Community College to launch a new Food Safety/Quality Assurance Technician Apprenticeship Program in 2020. Several employees from CLFP member companies have enrolled in the program.

The Program is funded by the California Apprenticeship Initiative a California Community College Chancellor’s, Office Grant and the USDA Grant a USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture Workforce Development Grant.  QA Technicians will earn:

  • A California Apprenticeship Journey-person Credential
  • A Certificate of Achievement from West Hills College Coalinga
  • 17 units of college credit toward a degree.

A lot of students come from working families and they often have to decide between education opportunities and going to work to help support their family. At the Lemoore campus students and their families can receive help to invest in their education and career path. The Jump Start model is a four (4) week, project-based internship program for rising high school seniors focused on in-demand careers in the region.
